Vibration patterns of structures can be examined in detail with modal test studies. These studies are carried out in some cases to examine the shape of vibration, to study resonance frequencies and nodes, and in some cases to improve the created numerical model with correlation.
Hammer drive modal test runs
Hammer impact test can give a quick result to make a quick inspection. The results obtained can sometimes be satisfactory in terms of providing information in general even if the structure does not reach high precision due to the inadequate excitation of the structure.
Shaker drive modal test runs
Although its application is much more laborious than the hammer method, it is possible to get very precise measurements in modal test studies performed by driving with the shaker.
Modal damping, Mode shape and Natural frequency extraction studies
By processing frequency response functions taken from various points on the structure, modal damping, mode shape and natural frequencies are determined.
Correlation study and model improvement with FE model
By processing the data obtained with the modal test, comparing it with the finite element model and improving the finite element model so as to converge to experimental results.
